Chickenstick's Daily Verse Blog

Illustrations of my daily Bible study

Today’s verse is 1 Samuel 17:49, “David put his hand in the bag, took out a stone, slung it, and hit the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.”

Golden Gift

Today’s verse is 1 Samuel 6:5, “Make images of your tumors and of your mice that are destroying the land. Give glory to Israel’s God, and perhaps He will stop oppressing you, your gods, and your land.” I know these are tubers, not tumors, but I found it funnier.

12 Pieces

Today’s verse comes from the most horrific and disturbing things I have read in the bible. The verses are Judges 19:21-30 but I am only going to write the 29th verse, “When he entered his house, he picked up a knife, took hold of his concubine, cut her into 12 pieces, limb by limb, and then sent her throughout the territory of Israel.” This was never God’s plan for humanity. This is an image not of what God allows but of the distance the Israelites strayed from God and his plan.

Lion & Bees

Today’s verse is from Judges 14:8, “After some time, when he returned to get her, he left the road to see the lion’s carcass, and there was a swarm of bees with honey in the carcass.”

Today’s verse is from Judges 7:25, “…They brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon across the Jordon.”

Sought You

Today’s verse is Psalms 119:10, “I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands”

Today’s verse is Corinthians 4:16, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

Bufalo copy

Today’s verse is Psalms 118:24, “This is a day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
